Espelho Mau é, sem o desejar
directamente, nata do gótico português:
Com membros oriundos de bandas tão
significativas como Noctívagus, Phantom Vision ou Gondolin,
estas caricatas personagens teriam tudo para fazer a banda
sonora do mais sentido cortar de pulsos.
No entanto, o que nos trazem é um
som híbrido, misto, andrógino - osilando entre a new wave e
EBM, entre o Deathrock e a Pop mais descarada, conseguem ser
tão múltiplos e no entanto tão conscientes e surpreendentes
que nos fazem acreditar que o gótico em Portugal morreu - morreu
e ressuscitou ao 7º dia.
Espelho Mau is, unwantingly, cream
of the crop of the portuguese goth:
With ex-members from such proeminent
bands as Noctivagus, Phantom Vision or Gondolin, these cartoonish
figurines would have it all for the perfect wrist-slitting
soundtrack.
However, what they
have in store for us is an hybrid, betwixt, androginous sound
- sliding between
new wave and EBM, among Deathrock and sugar candy Pop music,
always being so multiple and yet so self-aware and surprising
they make us believe that the portuguese goth scene has died
